An initial contract to supply seating for a new hotel in Yorkshire has led to additional orders for furniture in adjoining bar, restaurant and leisure facilities. The total value now exceeds £100,000, spread over a period of some five years.
Knightsbridge Furniture was first approached in 2001 by the design team working on the new Burntwood Court complex in Brierley, near Barnsley, South Yorkshire. This family-run, 40-bedroom hotel is set in 35 acres of private, landscaped grounds which have been undergoing gradual development by the Saul family over the last 30 years and it aims to combine a friendly, supportive atmosphere with a feeling of style and space.
Impressed by the traditional manufacturing techniques and craftsmanship on show during a tour of the Knightsbridge factory in Bradford, and keen to use local suppliers wherever possible, the project designers placed an initial order for seating destined for the Burntwood Court's lounge, public and dining areas. This included club and tub armchairs from the Knightsbridge Vienna range, together with Charleston three-seat settees.
The hotel was subsequently extended with the opening of its new "qube" bar and restaurant area in mid-2004: again this featured furniture supplied by Knightsbridge, including bar stools from the company's Casablanca range, Balerno dining tables and Charleston upright armless chairs.
Finally, in September 2006, the new Burntwood Court fitness club and health spa opened for business, populated by armless Adagio stacking chairs and Vienna twin-seat club sofas complemented by Geo stools, armchairs and settees, Nova coffee tables and Balerno dining tables.
In all, Knightsbridge Furniture has supplied over 300 items to Burntwood Court, working with the hotel owners and designers throughout to ensure specific requirements for finishes and fabrics are met.
Commenting on the rapport between the two companies, Burntwood Court Manager Suzanne Hames reflects that "Over the years, we have built up an excellent relationship with Knightsbridge Furniture. Our initial tour of the factory in Bradford was really impressive, with their traditional manufacturing techniques, craftsmanship and being a local Yorkshire company. Service has been excellent, staff are efficient and willing to give sound advice, and all our deliveries have arrived on time, which is important when you are working to tight schedules."
Suzanne continues: "Stylish, comfortable and practical, the furniture speaks for itself! We have used both leather and fabric upholstery, and are impressed with both. We have used the furniture in quite diverse areas, such as the hotel, restaurant, fitness and spa areas, and the furniture works well every time."
